As soon as we announced we were standing in the Batley and Spen by-election, the Twittersphere “anti-fascists” began pounding on their keyboards. “Fascists” this and “fascists” that. It’s the usual stuff. This time they were referring to myself and Tommy Robinson. They call us “fascists” as if it were true. The fact is they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.
The latest is from a group calling itself “Kirklees Antifascists” who have posted this on social media:
“We would like to announce in the strongest of terms, that fascists will not walk freely and without opposition through our streets. We stand with our Muslim community in absolute solidarity.
There is an event of Unity organised by a holistic group of Unions, Anti Racists, and the local Muslim community.
Though we are not organising the event, we will be in attendance in number and we encourage all antifascists and groups to come down and join us autonomously.
In solidarity with our community”.
Where to start? What better place than “fascists will not walk freely”?
It’s often interesting to remind ourselves of dictionary definitions. Here is the dictionary definition of fascism:
a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti ) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
From the end and working backwards, who is it, in today’s society, that is engaged in the forcible suppression of opposition? Is it me? Or the so-called “anti-fascists”? Who is it that declares that political activists they disapprove of won’t be able to “walk freely”?
It’s staring us all in the face. The cancel culture, people losing their jobs following intimidation campaigns, silencing of truth-tellers by the press; all of this is suppression of opposition and it is the exclusive domain of the “anti-fascists” and their fellow travellers of the extreme Left. While calling us “fascists”, Kirklees Anti-fascists are engaging in the suppression of opposition, demonstrated by their determination that we may not even walk freely.
Then there is “severe economic and social regimentation”. Does that sound like For Britain? Or does it sound like the hard “anti-fascist” Left? Our policy is to broadly support a free market that encourages independence, entrepreneurship, and creativity. This is the opposite of economic regimentation. The Left on the other hand, wants to control business people and entrepreneurs through excessive regulation and crippling taxation. In other words, economic regimentation.
It’s also our policy that people should be free to live as they please, provided they do not infringe upon the rights of others. We believe that all British citizens are equal, with the same rights and responsibilities. We believe in freedom of speech and the right of all citizens to engage in the political process.
The hard Left does not believe in these things. Because of its toxic elevation in public life, free and open debate has been cancelled. Even a recent attempt to bring about a new news channel has been thwarted by a campaign to stop big companies advertising with it. GB News had been broadcasting a day or so when the Left began its attempts to shut it down.
The “anti-fascists” will have people fired from their jobs for expressing concern about mass immigration or multiculturalism, the transgender madness, or any other issue over which they claim dominion. The Left has taken it upon itself to determine what opinions people should be allowed to hold. That’s not just social regimentation, but severe social regimentation as the dictionary definition describes.
What about a “centralised autocratic government?” For Britain is a party of democrats. We advocate for the accountability of the powerful over and over again. The Left however campaigns to drive working class people out of their livelihoods for disapproving of government policy. As for dictatorial leaders, how are left-wing communist societies run exactly? Communism in practice has historically been characterised by totalitarian leaders – vicious homicidal dictators acting in the name of their all-controlling far-left ideals. Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot… the list is long.
Finally, “that exalts nation and often race above the individual”. The Left hate nations these days, this is true, but race? Race is the obsession of the modern far Left and they absolutely place it above all other considerations, especially the individual. I can think of no more appropriate an example than the nationwide rape gangs that plague this once great country.
When it becomes clear to a leftist that a group of Muslims are terrorising and raping a teenage girl, who do they prioritise and why? They prioritise the rapists because their open border multicultural ideology is threatened if we seek justice for the girl by telling the truth. What will happen in this scenario is that the rape will be covered up to protect left-wing ideology from exposure.
The girl? She is expendable.
Take Black Lives Matter as another example. This group doesn’t give a damn about black people, many of whom had their livelihoods destroyed by the violent antics of BLM. What of the individual? It doesn’t matter, what matters is the political race-based ideology; a notion that all black people are victims and all white people oppressors. If individuals are hurt or killed in the expansion of this idea, then so be it. This is why the enslavement of black people by Muslims today is ignored. It does not fit the narrative of white people as the sole oppressor. In other words, once again, it is the politics that matters, not the individuals.
The general understanding of fascism does contain elements of nationalism, but that aside, all of the other characteristics described above apply solely to the “anti-fascist” Left, and not to their opponents. There is a right-wing fascism in the UK, but it is tiny, and it rarely comes under the radar of the “anti-fascists”. The Left knows that the real far right won’t win in the UK, so it focusses on those of us who would, if only the people were allowed to listen to us. The Left opposes our policies because they deliver freedom, something it despises. It therefore engages in smearing; a smearing that covers its own tendencies towards fascism by shifting the focus elsewhere.
It’s unclear whether Churchill actually said that the fascists of the future will call themselves antifascists, but whether he did or not, it’s true. In our topsy-turvy world of lies and injustice, the “antifascists” are the closest things to fascists we have in mainstream politics today.
